{"id":3048,"date":"2026-02-27T13:54:07","date_gmt":"2026-02-27T13:54:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/polkares.org\/?page_id=3048"},"modified":"2026-02-27T14:00:19","modified_gmt":"2026-02-27T14:00:19","slug":"activation-levels","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/polkares.org\/?page_id=3048","title":{"rendered":"Activation Levels"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em>This page was updated 02\/27\/2027<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The following section activation levels are derived from the West Central Florida Section Emergency Communications Plan (pages 6-7).\u00a0 That plan can be found at <a href=\"https:\/\/arrlwcf.org\/download\/wcfares\/WCFSection_ARESPlan_040125.pdf\">https:\/\/arrlwcf.org\/download\/wcfares\/WCFSection_ARESPlan_040125.pdf<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Our West Central Florida Activations levels are:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/polkares.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/Level4.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-2984\" src=\"https:\/\/polkares.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/Level4-300x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/polkares.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/Level4-300x150.jpg 300w, https:\/\/polkares.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/Level4.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n\u2022 <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Level 4: Routine Operations<\/strong><\/span> \u2013 No standby for activation or current activations. ARES members go about their normal daily routines. This is a good time to check go-kits, emergency supplies, and family evacuation and communications plans. Members participate in regular ARES training nets to receive updates on section status and maintain proficiency in radio operations.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/polkares.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/Level3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-2983\" src=\"https:\/\/polkares.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/Level3-300x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/polkares.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/Level3-300x150.jpg 300w, https:\/\/polkares.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/Level3.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Level 3: Alert Status<\/strong><\/span> \u2013 One or more ARES groups on Standby for possible activation in one or more WCF Counties. ARES members should follow the instructions of their sponsoring organization. For regional events such as hurricanes, members should monitor news media, their county ACS\/ARES net, and\/or the NI4CE repeater system for situation awareness.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/polkares.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/Level2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-2982\" src=\"https:\/\/polkares.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/Level2-300x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/polkares.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/Level2-300x150.jpg 300w, https:\/\/polkares.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/Level2.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Level 2: Partial Activation<\/strong><\/span> \u2013 One or more WCF Section ARES Groups are activated. Members of the activated groups follow the directions of their sponsoring organization. Members who are not activated should continue to monitor news media, their local ARES net, and\/or the NI4CE repeater system for potential callouts for additional operators in the activated groups. Requests for additional operators should be handled through mutual aid agreements or requested through the Section Emergency Coordinator or Section Manager. Activated groups will normally suspend their regularly scheduled training nets. During scheduled events (e.g., marathon, 10K run, walk-a-thon, etc.), the sponsoring organization may ask the ARES support team to assume Level 2.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/polkares.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/Level1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-2981\" src=\"https:\/\/polkares.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/Level1-300x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/polkares.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/Level1-300x150.jpg 300w, https:\/\/polkares.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/Level1.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Level 1: Full Section Activation<\/strong><\/span> \u2013 All WCF Section ARES Groups are activated. All WCF nets are cancelled until further notice. Activated ARES members will perform under the direction of their sponsoring organizations. ARES members, who are not activated, carry out their primary responsibilities in support of their family.
